1. Go for a walk in the Royal Botanic Gardens

2. Celebrate a month of love

Sydney has some of the best beaches in the world, and some are more remote than other. perfect for cuddling up on a blanket together after a refreshing dip in the water. Best remote beaches in the Sydney area include Flat Rock Beach in Killarney Heights, Little Bay Beach in Little Bay, Collins Beach in Manly (pictured) and Lady Martins Beach in Point Piper.

Due to light pollution and salty haze star gazing is not very easy to do in the Sydney basin, however if you don't want to go to the other side of the Great Dividing Range try and pick a dark spot close to the National Parks. Make sure you are not locked in after dusk though!

It's so easy to find a good lookout point in Sydney, and one of the best is definitely in North Head, Manly. You can drive up there in your car and stay close to your vehicle so that you can move away if the ranger does show up. Otherwise, pay the flat fee and be carefree.

7. Celebrate the Lunar New Year in Chinatown

If you like a good celebration then the Lunar festivities in the city are a great way of having fun together! On Valentine's Day you have the last chance of the year to view the beautiful giant lanterns that have been set up all around the city, you can listen to the Chinese Garden Chamber music and you can also feast on Asian delicacies at The Star's Lunar Markets.

8. Go on a short excursion together

You don't need to leave Sydney to see some fantastic sights. One of our favourite day-trip destinations is the Palm Beach lighthouse on top of Barrenjoey Headland. The views of the Pittwater, the Pacific and up the Central Coast are stunning and very romantic indeed!

9. Walk along the coast for some beach hopping

It's an oldie but goodie! Walk from Coogee to Bondi (or the other way around) for some fantastic views, to catch the ocean breeze and to have a dip in the ocean. Plan your future together while snacking on some ice-cream at Bronte, think about mortality when passing Waverley Cemetery and spot the celebrities at Bondi's Icebergs.

10. Visit the Art Gallery of NSW

Do something extraordinary: visit the Art Gallery of NSW. Entry is free! And you can see some really amazing Australian, Asian and European artwork here. It's also the last day of the "The Greats" exhibition which features some of the most famous painters in the world, including Gauguin, Botticelli and Monet (however, this exhibition is not free!).
