Police Searching The "Teacher's Pet" Property Didn't Find Anything

They didn't find Lynette Dawson's body or any "items of interest".

Police digging up the former home of missing woman Lynette Dawson have ended their search empty-handed.

"Police have not located Lynette’s remains or any items of interest to the investigation," NSW Police said in a statement on Monday afternoon.

Dawson's 1982 disappearance and probable murder have attracted intense public interest since the release of the record-breaking true crime podcast The Teacher's Pet. The podcast focuses on the alleged involvement of Dawson's husband, Chris Dawson, in her disappearance.

The podcast's creator, journalist Hedley Thomas, had been critical of previous police searches of the property at Bayview, and suggested police should search the "soft soil" beneath Dawson's daughters' bedroom windows.

The search started last Wednesday and finished today.

Two inquests have found that Dawson was likely killed and that a "known person", since identified by the state coroner as her husband, should be prosecuted. The DPP decided there was insufficient evidence to lay charges that would result in a prosecution.

Chris Dawson denies being involved in Lynette Dawson's disappearance.

The DPP was given a new brief of evidence in April. The evidence is still being reviewed.
