1. Petticoat Lane Market
A bit of a trek, but that just helps build up an appetite. You have to navigate through a market that's essentially a time warp back to the late 80s and early 90s, but that's okay because it adds character. Once you've overcome your cityfolk fears you're met with some of the most humble and tasty concoctions you'll come across for less than £5.
Our favourites are the chicken satay and rice box from Satay Bangkok (watch out for those green chillies) , the falafel from the seemingly unnamed Jordanian stall (it has chips in the wrap!), and the excellent vegan curries from the West African Sundia stall.
Price: ~£5
2. Kerb at The Gherkin
3. Breakfast Club, Spitalfields
Breakfast for lunch is a good indicator that you've been enjoying yourself. That or you'd cling to any comfort to get you away from your mind-numbing office job. Rejoice in the company of a short stack of pancakes, or perhaps some huevos rancheros. Just make sure to order an Elvis milkshake, as peanut butter never done taste so good.
Price: ~£10
4. Moshi Moshi, Liverpool St Station
Who would've thought that there'd be a decent kaiten sushi place in the station? Try out a sushi box and some gyoza. Make sure your company is paying before going, or save this for pay day lunch.
Price: Probably not worth mentioning
5. Birley, London Wall
6. Colombian Chicken Nazi (aka Assenheim 56), London Wall
7. Nusa, Threadneedle St
Soup. Yeah. So what? Well, friends, this is so much better than you think it could ever be. That's all I'm saying.
Price: <£5
