Ever had a conversation with your friend and thought, "Hey. We should start a podcast."
Well, it's not as hard as you might think. Here are the basic tools you'll need to start sharing your thoughts with the world.
1. A cost-effective microphone if you want to see how your podcast will go before investing big money.
2. Or, you can opt for a microphone with all the bells and whistles included if you're planning on podcasting long term.
3. A podcast planner so you can get ahead, track your episode ideas, and stick to deadlines.
4. Some recording software to edit your track, before taking it live.
5. A couple of lapel mic's if you opt to podcast on the go, like Chris Fairbanks and Karen Kilgariff's Do You Need A Ride.
6. Or a dual headed lapel mic if there are two of you and you want to get ~fancy~.
7. If you don't want to use your phone to record, pick up a digital recorder with a mic input to keep everything in one place.
8. And don't forget to get an SD card!
9. Some noise-cancelling headphones to make sure your audio is on point.
10. And If you are planning on recording somewhere with a lot of background noise, invest in a sound absorbing recording panel to help keep it to a minimum.
11. Or DIY one with a box and some soundproofing insulation foam.
