Four rare white lions and three white tigers have been born at a private zoo in Poland within the past week, officials announced Thursday.
White cats are not albino, instead, they are the result of both parents having a rare recessive gene, which means in almost all cases, inbreeding is involved.
Critics say zoos breed the white cats to generate public interest, and with it, profits. There are only an estimated few hundred white lions in the world, according to the Associated Press.
