The Family Of A Woman Found Dead And Bound In A Park Has Spoken

Nicole Cartwright was a kind, sweet, bold, and fun woman, her family wrote.

Murdered Sydney woman Nicole Cartwright was a "cherished" daughter and sister, her family has said in a statement issued three weeks after the 32-year-old's body was found in a Sydney park.

"Nicole brightened our lives, not just with the colours in her hair or the things she wore; it was a radiance that made you happy just being near her," her family wrote in a statement issued by NSW police on Thursday morning.

Cartwright was found by a council worker at Buffalo Creek Reserve in Sydney's northern suburb of Hunters Hill on October 3. Her hands were bound in front of her.

Police said on Thursday a post-mortem examination of Cartwright's body was "inconclusive" and that further tests were being conducted to determine how she died.

"While we are still struggling to comprehend how and why this happened, our family is finding comfort in focusing on what made Nicole special and treasuring her in our memories," the statement, signed "the Cartwright family", said.

CCTV footage released by NSW police shows the last time Cartwright was seen alive, on the night of September 30 at Museum train station.

The last time she spoke with her family was on September 28, when she sent them a photo taken at Maroubra in Sydney's east. Her parents reported her missing the day after her body was discovered.

Cartwright was "kind and sweet, but also bold and fun" with an infectious laugh, they wrote.

A candlelight vigil was held by the community in the park where Cartwright was found.

"We were deeply touched by the community vigil in the park; it’s lovely to know people do care about each other, even if they don’t know them, and acknowledge the loss of a beautiful life."

Police issued a new appeal for information that may assist them with inquiries to "piece together Ms Cartwright's movements in the days leading up to her death".

"While police have been able to account for her whereabouts for most of the long weekend (Friday 28 to Sunday 30 September 2018), they are still seeking information from then until the day her body was located," a police statement issued on Thursday morning read.

Police believe her body was dumped at the park either late on the night of Tuesday, October 2, or in the early hours of Wednesday, October 3, not long before she was found.

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation into Cartwright's death is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
