Man Accused Of Smuggling $7 Million Of Cocaine Complained About $10 Foxtel Charge

"Talk about double dipping - what a joke."

Australian man Bennet Schwartz could face a life sentence after he was charged with importing 23kg of cocaine from the United States.

On September 2, Australian Federal Police officers yanked the 29-year-old mining executive off a flight at Sydney's domestic airport and charged him with importing a commercial quantity of cocaine.

As a senior analyst for mining giant Rio Tinto, Schwartz's base salary would have been upwards of $122,118, according to job site Glassdoor where employees can anonymously post their salaries.

But the private school-educated executive complained on Facebook about how much he was paying for Foxtel.

Or slamming airlines for the cost of flight delays.

Or checking he wasn't paying too much for airfares.

Police have alleged Schwartz was in cahoots with two other men who are also accused of importing cocaine through the mail from the US.

One package, which allegedly contained 8.4kg of cocaine, was sent on August 3 last year and detected by customs officers. A second package, which allegedly contained15kg, was detected by customs on May 23 this year.

Schwartz is due to front Sydney’s Central Local Court on November 23.
