A Man On Bumble Allegedly Posed As A Doctor And Sexually Assaulted His Date

    He has been refused bail.

A 37-year-old Sydney man has been refused bail after he allegedly raped his Bumble date at his Maroubra apartment.

Police allege the man was posing as a doctor on multiple dating apps including Bumble.

He met the woman, 26, in Maroubra before taking her back to his unit, where he allegedly assaulted her.

He then drove her to Mascot train station, where she caught the train home and reported the incident, police said.

The man was arrested on Wednesday and charged with indecent assault, aggravated sexual assault without consent, and hindering a person executing a crime scene.

The man's lawyers alleged the sex was consensual when their client appeared at Waverley Local Court in Sydney's east on Thursday morning, AAP reported.

According to court documents the pair were in the man's apartment between 12.30pm and 2.30pm on January 30 when he allegedly kissed her lips and breasts "and pulled her hand, placing it on his erect penis, and rubbed it up and down".

The man then allegedly had sexual intercourse with the victim without her consent. He then allegedly did so a second time.

His barristers Daniel Brezniak and John Wydell told reporters outside the court their client would plead not guilty.

The matter will return to court on September 19.
