9 Struggles Of Working At The Campus Coffee Shop

It's an awesome job, but it has some major downfalls.

1. Having to serve your hookup from the weekend

2. Looking Sloppy

We all have those mornings where we hit snooze a few too many times and half to rush the getting ready process. This isn't a huge deal when you can hide in the back of the classroom, but it's a super bummer when you're working the register with frizzy hair and bags under your eyes.

3. Working during finals week

oh, you have a final tomorrow, me too, and I have to work the closing shift tonight

4. Having your friend as a boss

This seems like fun at first (selfies4dayz), but it can get a little frustrating to be reprimanded while you're trying to kick it on the weekend.

5. Running out of things/Having things break

Campus coffee shops haven't completely fine tuned the art of how much of somethings to order, and even when everything is stocked, you have to deal with the ornery espresso machine and destructive blender.

6. People ordering like they're at Starbucks

Can I have a venti Frappucino?

we have a menu, and that is not on it

7. Seeing customers at parties

This is particularly a problem when at a small school. You remember peoples names and orders and think it's a great idea to berate them with these facts, typically when intoxicated. Some people don't take this too well.

8. Ridiculously high prices

This isn't a problem when students are paying with their meal plans, but when other people come in, they are appalled when they find out the fruit salad is $6. Sometimes they take it out on you, and you're like....I have nothing to do with choosing the prices...thank you very much.

9. Having to dress in work appropriate clothing

Sometimes you want to wear sandals and a tank top to class, but you have a shift right after, so you have to compromise fashion and wear the closed toed shoes and sleeved shirt. Major downer.
