Definitive Ranking Of Disney Villains And Their Pets

There have been some pretty badass villain/pet combos throughout the ages of Disney, so let's go back through the classic Disney archives and determine just who was the best combination of all... Caution: May contain frequent and reckless Disney references.

5. Governor Ratcliffe and Percy

Governor Ratcliffe is a self-aggrandising , egotistical, power hungry Englishman with an insatiable lust for gold - and his pet pug Percy is no better. Though we see fairly little contact between Ratcliffe and Percy throughout the film, we can assume he is well loved judging from the fairly pampered lifestyle he appears to be leading.

That is, of course, until he encounters his ‘good’ counterpart, Meeko the raccoon. Throughout the film Meeko and Percy’s love/hate (but mainly hate) relationship develops, and by the end of the film it even appears that Percy has changed sides completely, landing him and Ratcliffe at the bottom of this list.

4. Ursula and Flotsam and Jetsam

Let's face it, Ursula the sea witch probably got pretty lonely in her deep-sea cave of an evening, so it's understandable that she wanted some company. But, in line with her evil nature, she chooses two Moray Eels as her companions, Flotsam and Jetsam. They spend the whole film circling Ursula in a menacing manner and going about various bad deeds, such as enticing Ariel into visiting Ursula, so really without them there'd be no film at all.

Whilst Ursula does seem close to her tingling amigos throughout the film, they do serve her a purpose. Having said that, she does seem pretty sad when they die. Especially because it's her that kills them. Oops. What poor unfortunate souls. (sorry not sorry)

3. Lady Tremaine and Lucifer

So here we have the lady commonly known as 'the evil stepmother' and a cat named Lucifer. Lucifer. This cat is LITERALLY NAMED AFTER SATAN. Lucifer the cat enjoys just being generally really annoying, especially to Cinderella - after she spent what was probably several painstaking hours polishing the massive floor of the Tremaine household, the buffoon trots his dirty paws right across it, smugly waving his cat-bum in the air. That scene was painful to watch.

To be honest, he enjoys doing what his human counterpart, Lady Tremaine, does; make poor Cinders' life miserable, and that's what makes them such a good partnership.

2. Maleficent and Diablo

Hands up, how many of you didn't know what 'that raven from Sleeping Beauty' was called? Hey, never mind, at least we're all united in one thing - our fear of Maleficent. Her name actually derives from the latin for 'evil doing' and she is the self-proclaimed Mistress of All Evil. Everything she does is meant to intimidate and frighten, and it works. The Mistress of All Evil must have a lot of wicked deeds to attend to, so it makes sense for her to have a close advisor, in the form of Diablo the Raven.

Ravens are actually incredibly intelligent birds with the ability to survive in a multitude of environments and a particular proclivity for aerial stunts. If you had to have any bird as your sidekick, you'd pick a raven, right? I know I would.

Maleficent, despite her nefarious nature, shows a great deal of affection towards her pet, showing the world that you can have a functional working/affectionate relationship.

1. Jafar and Iago

I might be a bit bias on this one, having literally just watched Aladdin for what might be the thousandth time, but I'm certain that Jafar and Iago have the best owner/pet relationship out of all the Disney villains.

They're constantly seen together throughout the film and always joke around - a true sign of their friendship. Iago suffers eating dry crackers, offered to him by the Sultan, and being called 'Pretty Polly' - so degrading - just to ensure that Jafar remains in good standing with him, which is vital to Jafar's cause.

Iago goes out of his way to help Jafar, such as when he imitates Jasmine's voice in an attempt to lure Aladdin away from the lamp, but also isn't afraid to speak his mind about Jafar when he's annoyed - although it is mainly through sarcastic mocking of Jafar's voice when he's not around.

Jafar and Iago are both thoroughly twisted through and through, and that's what makes them such a good match. They are true buddies and thus deserve the number one spot on this list.

"Jafar, Jafar, he's our man, if he can't do it, GREAT!"
