You may think that the issue would be with "Gunsmoke" fans...
Gunsmoke did run for 635 episodes in 20 seasons and was on the air from 1955-1975.

OK....THEY DID SAY SCRIPTED....
So you can discount long-running programs 20/20, Cops, Meet The Press, It's Academic, etc...reality shows, news shows, game shows, religious Sunday morning shows, sports shows....
BUT THERE ARE ACTUALLY 15 SCRIPTED SHOWS IN THE UNITED STATES THAT HAVE AIRED LONGER THAN "THE SIMPSONS"
6 of them are still airing!!!! #NoRespect

General Hospital (ABC), Days Of Our Lives (NBC), Young and Restless (CBS), Sesame Street (HBO), Saturday Night Live (NBC), and Bold and The Beautiful (CBS)
YOU SEE VARIETY MAGAZINE FORGOT TO ADD ONE WORD...."PRIMETIME"
Primetime is generally Monday - Friday 8 p.m. - 11 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday 7 p.m. - 11 p.m.
VARIETY TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT "DAYTIME" and "LATE NIGHT"
