Promising review: "I've been on a sports bra search for years and years and I've finally found one I'm happy with. I usually wear a 42–44DDD bra and I ordered the 42F, which fits perfectly. I could literally do jumping jacks. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE EVER ONLY HAD TO WEAR ONE BRA! YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! I even did a 10K in this thing with no problem." —RW

Promising review: "I am an endurance athlete. Been running for more than 30 years, and currently focus on marathons and ultras. Body Glide is an essential part of the running kit for any rubbing, chafing, or blistering. From clothing hot spots to feet (even when running barefoot it works for me!), this is a superb product. To ensure a worry free long run or a race, I use this as prevention on any areas that can rub, chafe, or blister. No scent that I have been able to detect, and not greasy or any residue, or any indication visibly that any product is being used, once applied. Nothing I’ve used compares to Body Glide." —Kit Clayton

Get it from Amazon for $8.99+ (available in three sizes and also in two-packs).

    7. Or a pair of anti-chafing bands to wear underneath running shorts. These bands, which comfortably fit around your thighs, are designed to help minimize chafing and perspiration while you're on the move.

Promising review: "I have a pair of the lace ones that I've loved wearing underneath my dresses and skirts. I just purchased the non-lace ones to wear when I run, because the seams of my shorts rub in this humid weather! These worked freaking fabulous for my run, and stayed in perfect place (I ordered size C!) They were so much cooler than compression shorts or spandex, and kept the sticky thighs away from each other! Definitely give them a try! I know I appreciated not having to be constantly readjusting my shorts!" —Michaela

Get them from Amazon for $20.69 (available in sizes S–3X and 17 styles).

    8. A pair of polarized sunglasses that won't slide down your nose and will block annoying sun glare. Wear them on your next trail run or bike ride to shield your eyes from UVA and UVB rays.

Promising review: "I always have problems finding earbuds that don't fall out of my ears when I run, so these are amazing since they don't go inside my ears at all! I barely feel them on my head, they don't jiggle or move at all when I run, sound quality is pretty good, and I'm glad that I can still hear ambient noise around me while wearing. Highly recommend!" —REI Customer

    10. A running belt you'll want to wear if you're training for a race or taking a long stroll when it's warmer outdoors. There's a vertical water bottle spot, a zippered pocket for your phone and keys, and an adjustable waistband, so you won't get thirsty or lose anything along the way.

Get a 10-pack from Amazon for $15.99 (one size fits all).

    13. A pair of calf compression sleeves for jogging or running! Reviewers say they can help minimize calf tightness and support you as you run. Whether you're a new runner or a seasoned marathoner, these sleeves could help you with long-distance sessions.

Many reviewers do say these help with the pain from shin splints, however they're not a cure and if you're in pain, you likely shouldn't be running and may want to discuss symptoms with your doctor. Read more about how to help shin splints.

Promising reviews: "I wore these compression sleeves during the 2019 Chevron Houston Marathon, and they worked just fine. I ordered a small, and they fit as expected. I never had any issues with shin splints or calf tightness. Good quality and nice material. I highly recommend these for any distance running." —Pon Bath

"My run today was pretty short since it is my first time running in several months, 2 miles. But these compression sleeves helped keep my calves from feeling too sore while I was running. I think these will come in very handy as I slowly increase my distance and speed and will help in the recovery of my muscles both after runs and after weights/calisthenics workouts. I would absolutely recommend these to beginner or seasoned runner to help muscle recovery, endurance, and speed." —Clairene M. Guerra

Promising review: "My cute treadmill arrived in perfect condition, easy to set up, and just as described! The Bluetooth is excellent and I am able to play music from my iPhone just fine. I just wanted something small, so I could tuck away under my bed when not in use and I couldn’t ask for anything better. I’m not a professional runner at all. I just wanted to get moving with walking or lightly jogging in the comfort of my own home. I hate running in the hot or cold weather, in the sun, and in public. Hahaha! Anyway, get it if you’re on the fence. It’s affordable, minimalistic, modern, and simple. Perfect!!"" —Amanda

    15. Or a Treadly 2 Pro that'll help you get your daily steps in and track your activity with an app. The handrail on the machine can be raised or lowered, meaning you can walk, jog, or even run while staying in the same place. And when you're done, just slide it under your bed.

    Genevieve Scarano / BuzzFeed

I've been jogging almost daily on this treadmill, and it's been a big help when it's raining or snowing outside. You can walk or jog up to 5 mph, move the handrail up or down (and yes, this means you can walk on the treadmill even with the rail *all the way down on the floor* for workouts), *and* track your daily progress in the Treadly app. Walking and running on this treadmill feels the same as other treadmills I've tried in the past (minus 'the up to 5 mph' feature). What I love about that speed limit though is that it helps me focus on my form when I'm jogging or walking. I'm being mindful of each step and not rushing, so I really enjoy using it for workouts. It's 3.7 inches tall and weighs as little as 77 pounds, making it fairly easy to move around. With two front-support wheels and a folded handrail, it doesn't take too much effort to place it in a corner or stow it away under a piece of furniture, but moving it did require a little work, since I don't have much floor space between my bed and closet. You can read my full review of the Treadly 2 Pro here

Get it from Treadly for $699+ (available in two styles).

    16. High-rise bike shorts so comfy and perfect for running, jogging, and walking. They come in fun patterns (like the leopard-print one below) and have moisture-wicking fabric that'll help you stay dry, even if you're sweating a little from exercising.

reviewer wears black high-rise bike shorts and white tank top while running outdoors
A different reviewer wearing the bike shorts in white leopard print

Promising review: "This product is perfect for all outdoor activities! I recently got into bike shorts because I was tired of my thighs chafing when I run, hike, and bike. These shorts are shorter than other bike shorts, but long enough to prevent chafing. The patterns are perfect and vibrant and the cloth is so soft. They are incredibly breathable and comfortable for lounging in, or taking on a long run or bike ride." —Amazon Customer

Get them from Amazon for $18.99+ (available in sizes XS–XXL, in sets of two, and in 15 colors and patterns).

    17. A sunscreen stick to apply to your face and bod before you go running or play sports on a sunny day. It has Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ and helps protect your skin from UVA/UVB rays. No sunburns will get in the way of your workout today. 👏

    18. Glow-in-the-dark LED bands that'll be so helpful if you're running or jogging when it's dark outside. Each band can be worn on an arm or ankle for optimal visibility early in the morning and late at night.

    Amazon, Amazon

Promising review: "This is a great product! As a runner who virtually always ends up running after sunset, this helps me feel much safer. I either run in a high-traffic recreation area where they are numerous cyclists, cars, and other runners/walkers, or I run near my home where there is a great deal of traffic and several poorly-lit apartment entrances where it's difficult for turning cars to see pedestrians, even if they are actually paying attention. I brought the blue version of this bracelet so that it would stand out even more so. I still am extremely attentive to my surroundings, but knowing that others (cyclists, drivers, and other runners/walkers) can see me very clearly now makes me feel safer and more comfortable on my evening runs. I've bought several reflectors and safety products before but this is by far my favorite. Very comfortable as well." —Amy

Get a pair from Amazon for $12.57 (available in five colors).

    19. Athletic socks designed to keep your tootsies comfy and dry. They each have a heel tab design (yay for fewer blisters!) and are made with breathable material. You can ~go the distance~ and not deal with stinky, sweaty, and irritated feet.

Promising review: "So you know that problem when your running socks slouch below your shoe, and WHAM! Blister. This does not happen with these socks. That little tabby-thing in the back is amazing for preventing sock slippage, and these are awesome. They're not too heavy (which is great — dude, I hate bulky socks!), but they're hefty enough that you don't feel like you're going to put a hole in the sock after the first few runs. I'm super prone to blisters, and these are perfect." —Amy

Get an 8-pack from Amazon for $13.99+ (available in four sizes and 32 different color packs).

    20. Workout leggings that'll feel so comfortable for your next run or jog. Slip into these babies that have four-way stretch fabric, a small *hidden* waistband pocket for your essentials, and so many color options to match sports bras, tees, and sneakers.

I've washed and dried them several times with no pilling and no shrinkage. The price is a steal for the quality of these leggings! I'll definitely be buying more!" —Erin l.

Get them from Amazon for $36.98 (available in sizes XS–XXL, two lengths, and 33 colors).

    21. Or a pair of capri leggings with all the functional features you love: four-way stretch material, a high-rise *and* wide waistband that'll stay in place, and a gusseted crotch that helps prevent chafing. Oh, and can't forget about two pockets that'll securely hold your keys, phone, and IDs when you run.

reviewer wearing the high-rise capri leggings in spacedye blue while out on a run
reviewer wears same pair of leggings with a gray tank top while running outside

Promising review: "I love these capris; I've got five pairs. The real hero though is the pockets. I've had pants with pockets similar to this before and eventually the pockets stretch out to the point where the phone'll flop out if you're running. On these though, the pockets are deep and wider than my phone enough so that the phone kinda sits in the pocket on a tilt and one corner gets stuck under the lip of the pocket. A sort of phone seatbelt, if you will. its easy to get the phone in and out. So far I've worn/washed all five pairs probably a half dozen times taking little if any consideration/care into the pants as far as wash directions go and the pocket and fit of the pant is still going strong. I trusted these pockets so much that I just ran my first full marathon and although I brought my flip belt...I kept my phone in the pocket. —Jillian Noone

Get them from Amazon for $21.98+ (available in sizes XS–3XL and 65 colors).

    22. secure armband that'll hold your phone, so you can avoid dropping it and damaging the screen (which would *not* be fun when you're in the middle of an intense run). Its non-squeezing design feels comfy on your arm, while silicone grip dots will help it stay in place. It's also water-resistant, making it perfect for days when you're running in overcast or slightly rainy conditions.

Promising review: "My first time wearing this was for my first half marathon and it worked GREAT. I have an iPhone 7 and the case has openings for all different jacks on the side and center of the phone. The screen protector allows you to use the touchscreen and the band was great and held tight. I absolutely love it and can't wait to use it for trail runs as the weather gets better!" —Annie Rose

Get it from Amazon for $14.98 (available in three sizes and 11 colors).

    23. A pack of NipEaze stickers so you don't have an IRL encounter of Andy Bernard's running problem in The Office. Spare yourself from nipple chafing and use one of these adhesive babies to protect your chest.

    NipEase packaging. reads
    Amazon

Promising review: "I sweat a ton when I run. As a result, every glide-on or tube solution breaks down for anything longer than a 5K distance. Enter NipEaze — they just work. I don't have to take any days off after long runs due to chafing. They go on like stickers on the nipples and areola and I'm convinced they'd stay on forever if you didn't manually remove them. They are essential equipment for me on any runs longer than a 5K. Get the 'extra' size if your areolas are larger than dimes." —Jon Snow

Get 15 pairs from Amazon for $6.97.

    24. An insulated flask that'll help you stay hydrated when you're exercising outside. A handle with an adjustable strap provides a comfortable fit, while a pocket securely stashes keys, your phone, and other important items. It's also double-wall insulated and holds up to 18 ounces of water.

model holds blue handheld insulated water flask while out on a run
    Amazon

Promising review: Just right for my runs, just enough water for about 3-8 miles depending on the weather, without being too large or heavy. I much prefer this to a hydration belt or vest that bounces around. The bag can fit my iPhone XS Max with a moderately sized case on it if I have to but it is a tight fit. I prefer to use it for my pepper spray, Band-Aids, etc. and put my phone in a pocket on my shorts." —AB

Get it from Amazon for $36.99 (available in five colors).

    25. A Stretch-Out strap for your post-workout routine: it helps minimize tightness in your calves and hammies after jogging or running. Just slip it around your foot and take deep breaths while you flex your muscles.

Promising review: "I'm a distance runner, and of all the gadgets and accessories I've bought myself, this is hands-down my favorite! Before this stick I had a solid stretching routine and proper diet, but even so, after my weekly long runs I could feel it. I was constantly dealing with tight quads and shin splints. Then I got this thing. I started rolling my legs for about five minutes before and after runs, and it's been a game changer! Stiffness and soreness is gone, and I've seen my pace drop significantly. Also, this thing is lightweight and easily fits in a small gym bag. And at the price point, this is a no-brainer." —Bryan

I wanted this watch primarily for the GPS function while running, and I have been pleasantly surprised by the consistency with which it reports my mileage. I walked the same route on three consecutive days to see if the watch reported the same distance, and the watch indicated I had reached the one mile mark within ten or so yards each day. Promising review: "Really love this shirt. There was enough support for running and it didn't flop around during yoga either — perfect. Love the cute straps. The fabric is good and it looks well made, but I haven't had it long enough to say for sure.  Update — I have worn this quite a few times, including during a 5K and 10L race challenge. After the race, the fabric did get a little worn where the race number tracking chip was rubbing against it, as well as on the inside of the shirt, but it is still holding up. It was great for the race, nice and cool and plenty of support, and looked good in photos." —Christi

Promising review: "My runner's knee was eradicated from using this tape. Knee pains and aches were erased. Additionally, my husband started developing charley horses in his calves at mile 29 of the Keys 100 Ultra Marathon. We applied KT tape to his calf muscles the way the official KT Tape YouTube channel instructed and he finished the 100-miler with no more charley horses in his calves. Through the rain, and 71 miles, the tape never came undone. This tape is not a gimmick. Watch the videos and apply the tape." —lavonne

Promising review: "Great! Works as described. I am a runner training for a marathon. My feet get achy after long training runs, so this works well! I bought only one to try and plan to purchase another one so I can ice both feet at the same time." —Rachel Hsu
