This was the scene in the Mandaluyong area of Manila on Sunday as 12,975 people gyrated their way to setting the record for world's largest Zumba class.
A representative from Guinness was there to certify that, yup, this massive throng of fitness enthusiasts had indeed shattered the record.
The previous record? A paltry 8,232.
That previous record? Also set by Philippines.
Man...Philippines loves Zumba.
Zumba, for the exercise allergic amongst us, is the health craze that combines dance with aerobics to make a sweaty mish-mash of hip hop and mambo.
This guy is improving his cardio-vascular health AND making history.
12,975 people is a lot. It's almost hard to wrap your head around.
But this merengue mob isn't even the largest Zumba record.
Per Guinness, a group of 23,968 people in ten different locations in Mexico currently hold the title for "largest Zumba class (multiple venues)."
But the folks in Philipines have accomplished the much more difficult task of setting the single location record.
So congrats, Manila!
You just shimmied your way into the annals of Zumba history...
