Stormy Mondays Double EP " Wading The River/The Lay Of The Land"

Anyone interested in a folk-rock concert in space? well it happened sort of. The band Stormy Mondays won a contest NASA had going....Yeah!, that NASA the space program. The band won a space rock concert that guaranteed their music would be played in space on board the space shuttle 'Endeavor'. Sweet! yes, very a sweet deal indeed.

This Spanish indie band from the Northern Coast of Spain has a unique sound mix....a mix of Americana, folk, British rock , a little soul thrown in for good measure and Asturian ( a West Iberian Romance language aka Babel) from their native Spanish region, they perform in their regional tongue Asturian, English and Spanish.

Stormy Mondays have released 14 records seen their inception and considered pioneers internet music distribution since 1996.

As an folk-rock indie band they do their own legwork with promotion of their music, shows and record releasing.

They play their own instruments guitar, piano, harmonica, strings and percussion among others on their double EP Wading The River/The Lay of The Land, the former would embody their rock sound with it's mix of classical instruments, guitars and electric piano. It has been said there is a Pink Floyd influence to be found on this album.....songs of interest are 'One Note' 'Never Enough' and 'Love and Fire'.

On the latter album 'The Lay of The Land'....it has more of a late sixties Woodstock hippie folk tone ( side note the band did perform at Woodstock '99) with lilting flutes, clarinets, strings, violins and tenor guitar. The songs of interest are'Moon Almost Full', 'Talking In My Sleep' and the Spanish bonus track 'Dormi ya'
