Whaat?! Netflix is blocked in this country. Don’t worry. Here’s how to access Netflix from abroad.

You’re finally unpacked. And all you want to do is binge watch Orange is the New Black.

But you can’t, because Netflix isn’t available in the country you're visiting.

Not to worry. All you have to do is set up a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Trust me. It's much easier than it sounds

In short: A VPN disguises your location to say you're in the US. You can use it to access Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, HBO Go, Showtime Anytime, iHeartRadio, basically any website that blocks services outside the country.

Plus, VPN's can also be used from the US to access websites from other countries.

Let’s say you can’t wait for Season 5 of Sherlock to come out in the US. You can use the VPN to disguise your location as the UK, and then watch it on BBC iPlayer.

Here are some options that are free and easy to use. (Other VPN services may work better in other countries, so you'll have to research what works best for you.)

Hola

Hola is the best option for accessing Netflix abroad. It’s easy to download and it shows up as a cute fire icon on the browser toolbar. It works like a switch.

Once logged in, you can switch between US and UK Netflix or any other global Netflix site. Sometimes certain episodes and movies aren’t available in one, but can be found in the other.

Hotspot Shield

Hot Spot Shield works better for accessing sites like Hulu and HBO Go. There are some annoying ads on the screen that you have to keep closing out of. But it gives more accessibility to different sites that Hola wouldn’t work on.
