Response to Why Being an RA Restores Your Faith In Humanity…:
This BuzzFeed is so far from being true. DU HRE does not care about who you are, what you believe in, or how you identify yourself (politically, economically, socially, spiritually), unless you fit in with their liberal social ideology. Working as an RA at DU was one of the worst jobs I had. Not even the roughly $10,000 scholarship I received was enough compensation. I have an entirely different view of the world, how social policies should be seen, and simply different values and beliefs. I felt ostracized from the department, because I did not believe what they did, and I did not pretend to follow them. I stood up for what I believed in, and I was “excommunicated” from the HRE department. I would highly recommend you do not become an RA at DU. Unless you like being overworked, criticized, micromanaged, talked down to, and being treated like a person half your age and maturity. For those who have a strong work ethic, believe in an honest dollar and EARNING your money I urge you to go elsewhere for employment. Working for DU HRE is morally degrading, emotionally depressive and in all, a terrible working environment.
