10 Of The Worlds Best Beers Tried, Tested And Ranked

It's hard work, but someone had to do it.

Posted on

Everyone enjoys a beer. It's what separates us from the animals. So I thought I would take one for the team and try out different countries offerings for the global beer market and see which one was the best.

I got as many different countries beers and spent a couple of boozy days "researching" them.

It was hard, thirsty work but in the end I managed to compile the following list and crown the undisputed king of beers.

It's like the Olympics, but with liver problems.

10. Coors Light - America

Molson Coors Brewing Company

I'm sorry to say, but America came in at number 10 out of the beers I could get my hands on. Not being a fan of Budweiser, Coors Light was the next best thing I could think of.

Its not a bad beer and I am partial to ordering it whenever I see it, but compared to the rest of the list it was watery and devoid of taste.

9. Guinness - Ireland

Diageo

This stout is full of flavour but was far too rich for my blood. It's heavy and makes you feel bloated. The foam on the top had a bad habit of attaching to my facial hair. Also, it turns your poops black.

Save it for St. Patrick's Day, then drink it in vast quantities.

8. Asahi - Japan

Asahi Breweries

This one was more to my liking. It had a strong taste and really hit the spot. Wouldn't mind seeing it around more often. The only reason it ranked so lowly was because of the cost of it. Granted I got a big bottle of it but I couldn't afford to keep on drinking it.

7. Corona - Mexico

Anheuser-Busch InBev

Light, tasty but rather gassy. This was my drink of choice during my years at university before my pallet sophisticated. I still have a soft spot for it but can't find out why its always served with a wedge of lime crammed down the neck of it.

6. Kingfisher - India

United Breweries Group

Now we're getting somewhere. Strong tasting and very palatable. But last time I drank it properly gave me the absolute worst hangover. Drink in moderation.

5. Newcastle Brown Ale - England

Heineken

England's entry comes in at a respectable 5th place. Out of the many English beers I've tasted this is the best. A nice bitter taste, very smooth and has a devout following. Again, make sure you drink in moderation, it will make your poops come out too quickly if you don't. You have been warned.

4. Beck's - Germany

AB InBev

Germany was always going to be a strong contender for the crown here. The larger is crisp and refreshing, and would have won against a lesser opponent. Drink it from bottles, it tastes better. Also, go for the premium beer over the Vier variety, much nicer.

And now it gets interesting.

THE TOP 3.

2. Staropramen - Czech Republic

Molson Coors

This was a surprise to me. I was expecting this to be whatever they could serve to stag parties on the cheap, but I was happy to be proven wrong. Crisp, tasty and strong. No unwanted hangover effects either. Definitely one to try before you die.

AND THE WINNER IS

1. Amstel - Holland

Heineken International

The undisputed champion. I could honestly drink this until it came out of my ears. Refreshing, sharp tasting and everything you could want out of a beer. If you find yourself in Holland it's worth paying the inflated tourist prices for.

I've done the hard work here so you don't have to. Please drink responsibly. If you have any suggestions for young upstarts that could take on the champion then please feel free to add them to the comments and I'll be happy to try them out for you.
