I Tested Out Megan Markle's Two-Ingredient Face Mask And Here's How It Went

The Duchess of Sussex uses a face mask that only contains two ingredients, so I tried it for myself.

Hello dear people of the internet. I'm Farrah and I like trying intriguing and interesting things involving skincare.

Most recently, I happened to see a bunch of headlines talking about Megan Markle's favorite DIY mask. I knew I had to give it a try. I might not be royalty, but if 2019 were to bring me any type of goodness, I could only HOPE it would be the same glowing complexion as the Duchess of Sussex.

Megan's favorite DIY face mask only contains two ingredients: Oats and honey. Which, to be honest, sounds similar to what you'd use to make oatmeal. BUT I WON'T JUDGE.

The only site that gave any kind of direction to making this mask was Cosmopolitan. Apparently Megan loves this mask because the oats act as a natural exfoliant and the honey helps smooth skin and ward off inflammation.

First of all, I highly recommend applying this mask over your kitchen sink. Not all of the oats will stick to your face and therefore, they will drop everywhere. That being said, I felt like the oats worked well as an exfoliant. They weren't too harsh. But rubbing the sticky honey on my face felt...weird. The mask smelled like something I would eat — not wear on my face.

I didn't find any instructions to how long I should leave the mask on, so I wound up washing it off after 10 minutes. My skin looked a little red from the exfoliating oats, and I maybe looked 10% more ~glowy~ and ~rejuvenated.~ There wasn't a HUGE difference, but I also didn't expect there to be.

Would I try this again? Honestly, probably not. It was too much work and too messy for a simple mask. However, it's pretty cheap to re-create if you happen to have these ingredients in your pantry. In the meantime, I will continue to admire Megan's perfect royal skin from AFAR.
