If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, right? Since the State Senate leadership is blocking a floor vote on Fair Elections, we decided to shower them with fake money. Paying for legislation is the way Albany works, and we figured that a bribe would help move things along. We should see a floor vote on comprehensive campaign reform package that includes public financing at its core, unless we didn’t bring enough money.
A big thank you to Represent.Us and The Metropolitan Council on Housing for financing our bribery session.
During the week of May 24, the Money Out of Politics bloc and 99Rise dropped nearly 200 homemade banners for Fair Elections across New York State. It’s time for Albany lawmakers to pass real campaign finance reform with public financing at its core.
Everyday New Yorkers want their State Senator to show leadership and pass real campaign finance reform including publicly financed elections. Are these Senators listening to their constituents?
