I Love You Beth Cooper's 'Viral Disaster'

This is a painfully obvious attempt at a viral video from the marketing team for teen movie I Love You Beth Cooper. As Gawker points out, it's really bad, and it's worse when you realize that the girl was paid $1,800 to do this, that it was shot by Fox, that the boy in question isn't her boyfriend and doesn't even like her that much, and that the video has been a total flop on YouTube.

So, yeah. Gross. But there's another side to this story. Check out the second viral video these guys put out this week. I don't know how much Lucas Cruikshank (aka Fred - the biggest star on YouTube) got paid to plug this movie to its target demo of 15-year-old girls, but 500,000 views in a little over a week is pretty damn good.

So all I'm saying is I Love You Beth Cooper's "Viral Marketing" team had a huge score in addition to the admittedly embarrassing flop above. I highly doubt I'll be seeing this movie, but at least I've heard of it now, which was not true yesterday. More importantly, so have 500,000 screaming teenage girls who love Fred, but probably don't read Gawker.
