Lights! Camera! Action! 19 Days Till Start of Principle Photography!
18 days from today we start shooting! Our first two locations will involve shooting outdoors. Last Saturday we got together and visited two of them. One is on a pedestrian walkway with a road with heavy traffic and the other scene takes place behind the strip mall.
I am very impressed with the way my team could break down the the two locations. Seriously, I'm the director and I could fall off the face of the earth and they could do this film without me. James Rollo proved why is a beast behind the camera and is the perfect person for the job of Director of Photography.
He is a good grasp of how to make the most of the lighting, the angels needed and how to shoot for the edit. The camera is an important tool in capturing the story and interpreting the action for the view. You could have a person delivering the lines in a shot and the way you shoot: Close-up, medium close- up, or wide-shot, can change dramatically the way the scene is viewed by the audience.
I saw how important it is for the lighting team and the D.P. to communicate how the story is being told. Both James and Matthew Legner (lighting) know how to maximize their tools and use them together to tell engaging story.
Lots of decision to make and props to be procured and outfits as well.
