ERIK RAVELO ART / FACEBOOK CENSURE / PETITION

The 19th September 2013 the Facebook page of the artist and creative director Erik Ravelo, currently working in Fabrica, was censured. “Your page has been removed because it infringes our conditions of use. Your page was labelled for content to self harm”. The Cuban artist, author of the former Benetton campaign Unhate, was already censured by the social network for his new series of photographs “LOS INTOCABLES”. Published on the social media the 22th July 2013, the photos obtained 20553 likes in a few days. The 7 portraits, whit children as main characters, in an intentionally provocative position, were considered extreme and the visualization of the series was locked for all Facebook users already the 9th The 30 August 2013 Facebook already removed one of the photograph, where a child was crucified to a priest, to denounce the abuse on minors between the religious walls. Facebook in a public notice explained that the photo was infringing its condition and was removed, inviting Ravelo to consult the standard of the community and forbidding him to upload photos for 7 days. Now, totally deprived of his own account, Ravelo appeal to the social network.
