10 Reasons Why Stevie Nicks Is Still The Queen Of Rock

Happy birthday to the Gold Dust Woman herself

Stevie holds the record for the most hours spent over a five-year period visiting combat-wounded service members as part of USO-Metro’s celebrity handshake tours. She’s donated hundreds of iPods filled with music to soldiers recovering in army and naval hospitals. Nicks was so moved by her visits that she wrote the song “Soldier’s Angel,” which appears on her album In Your Dreams.

    3. Her lyrics are straight up poetry and hella relatable.

    4. She is a fashion icon.

    5. She was on American freaking Horror Story.

    6. She is the OG selfie queen.

    7. She’s an independent woman who don’t need a man.

    8. She loves a good rockumentary.

    9. She’s inspiring the next generation with her musical knowledge and girl power.

Children are the future, and Stevie knows this. That is why she is spreading her musical wisdom with the next generation. She visited the set of Glee (when Glee was still watchable) and encouraged them to keep pushing for the arts in schools. She was Adam Levine’s advisor on The Voice, sharing her knowledge about stage performance to today’s aspiring artists. And, she invited the Haim sisters to her home and encouraged them to keep making awesome music. She even made them sisters of the moon (she literally gave them gold half moon necklaces.) “Never sing a song you don’t love,” Stevie said. “Period.” Sound advice.

    10. She is a boss at twirling.

“I do this thing at the end when the music’s going duh-duh-duh-duh-duh … to me it’s like the horses are running through the forest and the goddesses and gods are all there," Stevie told Vulture. "It’s a really dramatic part, and when I perform ‘Rhiannon’ myself onstage, I always twirl to it and I love it... When you twirl, you want to look beautiful, you know? You want to have your hands up, and you definitely want to spot or you will get dizzy.”
