People will soon flock to New York for the DOC NYC, a week long festival for documentaries and the entries cover all kinds of topic from Death Metal bands in Angola to the graffiti wars in South America; movies about feminism and punk rock, a very strange Icelandic museum, a nanny who moonlighted as an amazing photographer, an exploration of what cinema is, and much more.
There is something that is other worldly about documentaries. We have become so used to, and demand to be entertained, that it's a nice change of pace to see the stories of people in real life, to see the situations of those that are in some ways so like us, and in other ways so very different.
