I will confess, I have not watched the first 2 seasons of American Horror Story, but then I saw this magnificent 30 second trailer and my interest has been tremendously peaked!
I am a huge fan of the fantasy and magic genre. I watched Charmed religiously, I have read all of the Harry Potter and Lord of the Ring books, and I am a Rhaegar and Lyanna shipper.
According to Wikipedia (the best information source on earth no matter what your teacher says) the basic premise for season 3 is: "It's been over 300 years since the Salem witch trials. Zoe (Taissa Farmiga) is shattered to discover she possesses a strange genetic affliction tracing back to the dark days of Salem. She is then whisked away to Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, a mysterious school in New Orleans devoted to safeguarding the few remaining descendants who share this unique bloodline, they're to teach protection to the young. Those who remain are almost extinct and in danger again. The long-absent Supreme, Fiona (Jessica Lange) arrives to also protect the coven and their secrets. Fiona's daughter, Cordelia (Sarah Paulson) is a teacher at the school. This season will be set in modern day and the 1830s."
Based on the promo, I'm excited to see such amazing actresses as Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, and Angela Bassett will be playing the 3 main ladies in this New Orleans style Hogwarts. They can grab you attention and keep it, and you (and I) will let them. I'm also really excited to see Gabourey Sidibe as well. She has proven that she can handle dramatic roles and can only add to the amazing dynamic.
The only question remains: can I watch this without watching the first two seasons?
