    Is Nostalgia To Blame?

    For sequel mania?

Lately, there has be a standstill in original storytelling in the movie industry and the emergence of a sequel culture. Comic book heroes are everywhere we turn and the ones that already have many movies attached to the name keep getting more (Spiderman, I'm looking at you).

It may be because of the nostalgia factor. These stories are tied to memories of a much simpler time. With comic books have a golden era during the 60s and 70s. Although most of us don't actually have memories of this time period, we've heard enough stories to yearn for that time.

But does that mean that all we will see is remake from now on? I don't think so. This may be a phase for the entertainment industry. Mostly fueled from Joss Whedon's genius with the Marvel franchise, these reboots and sequels will eventually lose their buzz. We see that they didn't fair as well in the summer box office wars, so there is hope for us yet!
