Transform Your $8 Ikea Table 7 Different Ways

Behold, the Ikea Lack table.

If you have this table, the world is your oyster. Here's how to take it to the next level:

1. Attach wooden slats for a finished look.

Cut the wood slats down to size, sand them down, and stain. Line the slats up and hammer a nail into either end of the slats.

2. Keep your pups from knocking over their bowls with this sturdy stand.

Use a rotary tool to cut out two holes the size of your dog bowls. Do not cut through the bottom layer. Sand down the edges and place the bowls in their compartments. Decorate the table with a chalk marker and hang a basket off the side for toys.

3. Stick foam on the top to make a comfy ottoman.

Remove the legs from the bottom of the table and attach foam to the top of the table with spray adhesive. When it's dry, cover the foam with fabric, letting it hang off the sides. Carefully fold the corners in so that all four match. Use a staple gun to pin the fabric down on the under side of the table. Cut away some of the fabric so that you can reattach the legs.

4. Make a cute kitchen for your kiddo.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Use hot glue to attach four black felt circles to the lower left corner of the top of the table. These will be the burners.

2. Attach five knobs to the side of the table with wood glue. Use tape to hold the knobs in place until the glue dries.

3. On the opposite leg, screw on two hinges and use them to attach a wood board.

4. Attach an eye hook and latch on the opposite leg to keep the wood board in place. Glue on another piece of felt to make the board look like the oven door.

5. Screw caster wheels on the bottom of each leg.

6. Cut out a sink and knobs from cardboard. Hot glue to wooden dowels and paint.

7. Glue styrofoam to the top right corner of the table. Stick the wooden dowels into the styrofoam.

5. Or make a light table for tracing or sensory play.

1. Use a straightedge and box cutter to cut out an even square out of the top of the table and remove the stuffing.

2. Drill a thick hole in the top right corner and paint the entire inside white.

3. Once dry, snake an LED light strip through the hole and glue it all along the inside of the table.

4. Lay a piece of white paper across the square and then an acrylic sheet. Attach to the table with four screws.

6. Cut out some room for your succulents.

Use a box cutter to cut out out a 12x9-in rectangle and pull out the insides. Line with plastic and pot your succulents with pebbles and soil.

7. Stack two Lack tables to make a rolling bar cart.

Cover both tables with rose gold contact paper. Attach a towel bar to the side of the first table and casters to the second. Stack the first table on top of the second and connect them with four corner braces.
