Everything You Need To Know About Washing And Caring For Your Bras

You don't have to like your bras, but you must respect them.

Taking proper care of your bras can feel as exhausting as being fake nice to someone you hate but hey, if you do take care of them, they might just be marginally less irritating.

Lucky for you and me, Jolie Kerr wrote My Boyfriend Barfed in My Handbag...and Other Things You Can't Ask Martha, and provided us with all the care instructions we'll ever need to make sure our bras last.

Here are some tips I found and loved in her book:

    1. Wash the sweat and dead skin out of your bras every three to six wears.

    2. Hand-wash your bras, even if you really don't want to.

    3. If you insist on throwing your bras in the washing machine, put them in a mesh bag first.

    4. And always use gentle detergent and a cold or warm water cycle.

    5. NEVER stick your bras in the dryer, because you will hurt them and end up having to replace them much sooner than you would prefer.

    6. Give your boulder holders at least 24 hours rest between wears to give the elastic a break.

    7. Apply OxiClean to clean color stains and Pine-Sol to treat sweat stains.
