Drew Barrymore and Keanu Reeves met decades ago. They've been friends ever since, although it sounds like their '90s rendezvous looked quite a bit different than meetups that might happen today.
If you're keeping up with film news this week, then you probably know Lana Wachowski's The Matrix Resurrections is now playing in theaters (and HBO Max), with Keanu and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their iconic roles in the franchise after a two-decade hiatus.
Well, Keanu appeared as a guest on The Drew Barrymore Show yesterday to promote the new movie, but spent most of his sit-down with Drew reminiscing about some sweet moments they shared near the beginning of both actors' careers.

Keanu and Drew were first acquainted on the set of Babes in Toyland, a 1986 musical holiday film where they starred alongside Eileen Brennan and Richard Mulligan.
Drew was still in elementary school when they filmed it, while Keanu would have been in his early 20s.
They clearly stayed in touch after Babes in Toyland debuted. By the time Drew turned 16, their camaraderie had eclipsed professional courtesies — though the talk show host emphasized her admiration for Keanu and the "lovely" example he set for her as a young actor — and entered the realm of spontaneous hangouts.
"I was at this club and it was my 16th birthday and you came in — this is the memory I have of it, if you have anything to add or change please let me know — and you walked in and you grabbed my hand and you took me outside and you put me on your motorcycle..." Drew recalled during their onscreen chat.
Keanu, possibly in need of a quick refresher, replied, "Oh my."
"We drove at the warp speed of my life," noted Drew. "And I was so free...it was just this moment where I just remember loving life and being so happy. And I hold it so dear because the older we get, the harder it is to get to that feeling."
Keanu had a couple of questions, like which club was this and where did they zoom off to?
"I must've...OK...yeah," he said. "Oh wow, we probably went fast."
"So fast," Drew confirmed. "Like, irresponsibly fast."
