Hilary Duff Opened Up About The "Lizzie McGuire" Reboot And Gave Some Ideas For New Plot Lines

"Lizzie’s 30 now and I really like the idea of her waking up on her 30th birthday and being like, 'This isn’t where I thought I was going to be.'"

Hilary Duff made the dreams of many '00s girls come true back in August when she confirmed that Lizzie McGuire — the show that catapulted her to fame in 2001 — will be rebooted.

On Instagram, Hilary shared a montage of iconic clips from the show alongside a caption saying that she was "beyond excited to be back".

She then shared an Instagram story giving more thoughts on the reboot, which is being released via new streaming service, Disney+.

And, given that production for the reboot is set to begin in a matter of days, Hilary has now opened up some more about her hopes for the show.

"For me, coming back when she's 30 and she's not in a marriage, and she's not having a baby, and she's not doing all the things that I have already done in my life — that story is really exciting for me," Hilary told E! News.

She continued: "I think to myself, 'Where can we go? What are the struggles of a 30-year-old right now? What are the pressures that life throws in front of a woman who is 30 and doesn't have all those things yet? And, for me, that's Lizzie McGuire."

Hilary went on to say that the notion that Lizzie may still be "struggling" to fit in with her peers is exactly why she remains drawn to the character.

And she also spoke about potential plot ideas, revealing that the show could see her character enduring fertility struggles or even becoming a mom.

This isn't the first time Hilary has reflected on the relevance of Lizzie reaching her 30th milestone, revealing that she can relate to the feeling of "not being where she thought she'd be" by a particular age.

She went on: "My life has taken a few different forms and my moment wasn’t on my 30th birthday, but it was definitely mid-twenties, with a kid already, being like, 'Oh, this isn’t going to look how I thought it was going to look.'"

"I really want to tap into that," she went on. "She’s everyone’s best friend and what everyone loves about her is how relatable she is, so I really wanna go on that 30-year-old journey with everybody."

Well, I for one can't wait.
