Cheryl Cole’s “Crazy Stupid Love” Was Almost Released By Kylie Minogue

Fact of the day.

1. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you will probably have heard “Crazy Stupid Love” by Cheryl Cole.

2. But it turns out that Kylie Minogue actually recorded the song first.

The track was recorded for Kylie’s latest album, Kiss Me Once, but her record label, Roc Nation, decided against including it in the final tracklisting because it didn’t suit the musical direction they wanted her to take.

A source told The Sun: “Kylie recorded the track with songwriter Wayne Wilkins and loved it. But Roc Nation felt it was too pop. They wanted her tracks to have a cool R&B edge.”

3. Months later the song was played for Cole and she loved it instantly.

The source continued: “Months later Cheryl was in the studio with Wayne working on other album tracks and he played it to her.

“She knew she had to have it, but decided to rewrite a lot of the verses to make it her own, and that’s why she has a writing credit. It was also her idea to get Tinie Tempah to rap on it.”

4. Apparently Kylie “isn’t exactly happy”. But then she did release “Can’t Get You Out of My Head”, so she shouldn’t really worry.

Now we just need someone to leak Kylie’s version.
