Here Are Some Ways You Can Spruce Up Your Garden This Spring If You're In Need Of Some Inspiration

You'll have green fingers by the time you've read this, I promise.

I love my garden, and if there's anything you need to know about me, it's that I am completely plant obsessed (and definitely not ashamed to be!). 🌱

Now that it's spring, my garden could do with a little extra help to bring it back to life after a wet and cold winter. If you're struggling with knowing how to turn your garden from eek to chic, I'm here to share some tips to help us both, and some affordable Amazon finds that are perfect for the job!

    💐 Prepare your space 💐

Ideally you want to begin by preparing your garden (and especially the soil) for germination and growth. First things first, use this handy tool to remove any of those lurking weeds.

If you have a lot of weeds in an area with gravel, this garden rake will come in useful.

💐 Check your plants are getting enough water 💐

Let's be honest, in the UK we can still expect rain at pretty much any point, so even at the height of spring and early summer these scenes are pretty relatable...

Now, water isn't a bad thing – our plants need it to survive and stay healthy. But we still need to make sure our plants aren't getting too much or too little water, and that's why a moisture metre for the soil is a really useful purchase.

Checking water levels constantly can be time-consuming, so, if you do worry about how much water your plants should be getting then invest in these Miracle Gro crystals.

💐 Finding the plants for your space 💐

In spring you want plants that are a bit more tolerant in a change of weather conditions, meaning plants that can withstand days of warm weather and then sudden showers. Succulents are a great choice, they're very hardy and will still give your garden a colourful backdrop.

For this time of year, a selection of sempervivum succulents are a trustworthy choice.

For any outside plants you want to ensure that the soil can drain once wet to avoid root rot. This set of terracotta pots with a drainage hole at the base are a popular garden staple.

Spring flowers are a welcome break from the lack of greenery in winter, and are also important for encouraging bees and butterflies into our gardens. These wildflower seeds will create a stunning blanket of colour in your garden.

Treat your garden to these snowdrops bulbs as they are the earliest spring flowers to bloom.

For those with little to no garden space, herbs are a great addition. Herbs like this selection of seeds can be planted in pots on your windowsill or even on a balcony.

These are my herbs that I have been growing in mixed-fibre pots, and they have just started to sprout!

Balconies don't have to miss out on a seasonal bloom, you can plant some bulbs into these hanging pots for a pop of colour.

While we're on the subject, it's important that you have the correct type of plant on your balcony. Perennials and bulbs are a good start as they will happily grow in pots and the roots won't grow too long. For instance, check out these fiery red crocosmia bulbs.

    💐 Must-have essentials for gardeners 💐
