Calling all Swifties – Taylor Swift has officially announced that The Eras Tour is being released as a movie, so if you missed out on tickets, you'll finally be able to watch it!

So far it's only set to air in American cinemas, but we're all holding out hope that we'll get to experience it ourselves soon.

The concert film will start showing from the 13th October across the US. For any of my fellow UK stans who feel as though they'll be missing out, I've rounded up some of the most iconic concert films from ~other~ artists that I think you should check out first...

1. Katy Perry – Part of Me

Released in 2012, this film followed Katy Perry's 2011-12 California Dreams world tour. Fans had the opportunity to see what life was like behind-the-scenes for the star, which focused on her relationship with stardom and her life off-stage. I remember owning this film on DVD when I was younger, and this is what made me a Katy Perry fan. It's a mixture of heartbreak and the fantasy of fame all rolled into one!

2. Ariana Grande – Excuse Me, I Love You

Following Ariana Grande's 2019 Sweetener world tour, this film not only showed some of her performances, but also explored her life on the road and back at home. Ariana described this film as a "love letter" to her fans to say thank you for all of their support. Personally, I love this film! It was a fun watch, but I'd also love to see a more documentary-esque film of the star at some point.

3. Beyoncé – Homecoming

This 2019 documentary style film shows an in-depth look at Beyoncé's 2018 Coachella performance. It's a super intimate exploration of everything that happens behind-the-scenes, with the star openly discussing her vision for the performance, her emotional struggles leading up to the show, and, of course, a look at some of the most iconic choreography you may ever see.

4. Madonna – Truth or Dare

Released in 1991, the documentary follows Madonna's controversial Blonde Ambition tour, and provides an insight into Madonna's work. During an interview on Good Morning America, the singer said the aim of the documentary was "to explode the myth that we raise up on a pedestal people we turn into icons. We make them inhuman and we don't give them human attributes so they're not allowed to fail, they're not allowed to make mistakes."

It received many positive reviews upon its release, and I urge everyone to delve into the world of Madonna at some point!

5. Miley Cyrus – Best of Both Worlds

This film combined Miley Cyrus and her Disney character Hannah Montana during the 2007 tour. Honestly, I can't be the only one who felt as though I was keeping a huge secret seeing Miley turn into Hannah backstage, right? It even featured the Jonas Brothers which was extremely exciting for younger me. It's a super fun film, and now I'm patiently waiting for Miss Cyrus to release her own documentary, please!

6. One Direction – This Is Us

Arguably one of the biggest boybands ever, One Direction released their documentary in 2013. Fans of the X-Factor phenomenon had backstage access to their world tour, where they could watch live performances as well as behind the scenes antics. Harry Styles admitted that filming this documentary was quite "nerve-wracking", but they really wanted to show people who they really were off-stage.

7. And finally, who could forget... Taylor Swift – Miss Americana

In 2020, Taylor Swift gave fans a behind-the-scenes look into her life as one of the biggest names in the industry. This doc followed the star over several years, delivering an unvarnished and emotionally raw look at Swift as she navigated her way through fame, politics, and industry beef. If this film is anything to go by, we're in for a treat with the Eras Tour!
