10 Drugstore Beauty Products You Need In Your Arsenal

Because we all love cheap things that actually work

Posted on

1. L'Oreal Paris Infallible Super Slim Liner

L'Oreal Paris / Via

This has been my holy grail liner for a couple years now. I prefer felt tip because it's easy and the super slim shape is perfect for getting a really smooth wing. Stays on pretty well unless you're planning on shopping for puppies and crying because you can't adopt all of them. PS- Has anyone figured out how to correctly pronounce this brand yet??

It ranges for around 8$ at any drugstore.

2. Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal Cat Eye Mascara

Maybelline / Via

Next up for a holy grail drugstore product is.... Maybelline's Volum' Express Colossal Cat Eye mascara. What a mouthful. This isn't just because I like cats okay- this mascara really separates my lashes so they aren't clumpy and is super build-able. I've repurchased this quite a few times and the formula has never failed me.

This ranges from 6-7$ at any drugstore (SCORE!)

3. L'Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation

L'Oreal / Via

Another L'Oreal product and this one is fairly new. The cushion foundation trend has been catching on a lot recently and so far I've found two in the drugstore- this and Physician's Formula which doesn't hit the mark (only three shades????) This is a light-medium coverage and works wonderfully with my combo skin type. The only thing I don't use is the sponge that comes with it- I apply with a beauty blender or stippling brush!

This ranges from 15-17$ at any drugstore (A bit pricier but hey, it's the base of your makeup we're talking about)

4. Wet N Wild Color Icon Blusher

WetNWild / Via

I don't know why I was indifferent to this brand at first but after I saw KathleenLight's video on a drugstore haul- I had to try it out and HOLY FRICK- the color payoff is bomb. I underestimated it, got quite some product on my brush and made myself look like I just ran a marathon. Honestly, you need the teeniest bit of this to get a beautiful color. (Again, not using the brush it comes with though) Perks: You can stock up on the different shades because IT'S SO CHEAP. My personal fav is in Heather Silk.

This ranges from 3-5$ at any drugstore

5. Ardell Natural Lash in Black 110

Ardell / Via

For starters- I know a lot of people don't wear lashes on a daily basis but these are PERFECT for those people. These aren't dramatic so they won't scare you back into never false lashes again but still give lashes that oomph factor. Non-lash wearers can wear them for special occasions and lash-wearers can wear them for daily looks! These were my first pair of lashes and I still repurchase them (Note: you can take care of them and wear them a few times before repurchasing them!!)

These range from 3.50-5$ at any drugstore (But I found the cheapest were at Rite-Aid)

6. NYX Retractable Lip Liner

NYX Cosmetics / Via

If you want a precise lipstick application that won't feather during the day- LIP LINER is your best bet. I've been using this product with several different lipsticks and it always blends perfectly. I'll blend the inner line a bit and BAM- smooth and defined. I like this one because it's conveniently retractable so no sharpening- and I can take it on the go easily if I need to. They changed their packaging and a few shades but my favorite is in Natural!

This is around 5$ at CVS, Ulta, and Target

7. Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick in Clay Crush

Hannah Eunice / Via

(Clay Crush on the top and Nude Nuance on the bottom)

I accidentally bought this shade thinking it was Nude Nuance which I heard was a dupe for Mac's Whirl but I fell in love with this shade anyways. (Side note- on me, Nude Nuance is a bit darker than expected but still a great shade) Clay Crush a nude tinged slightly with pink and orange tones. Don't get scared by orange though- it's super subtle and even looks good on my very fair skin. It's super creamy and doesn't dry out my lips. It's also a TRUE matte, which I feel is a problem with a lot of matte drugstore lip products- that they aren't fully matte- but this line hits the nail on the head. (PS: goes great with above mentioned lip liner)

This ranges from 6-7$ at any drugstore

8. NYX Cosmetics Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk

NYX Cosmetics / Via

This product will change your eyeshadow, trust me. I use it as a base over my primer and it blends out perfectly (your eyelids aren't actually going to be white) It amps the color payoff of any eyeshadow. Seriously, if you want true-to-color shadow that won't crease- this is your best friend. Also, it can be used as an under brow highlight.

This ranges from 3-4$ at CVS, Target, and Ulta

9. Simple Cleansing Micellar Water

Simple / Via

If you're in the beauty world- you've probably heard enough about this micellar water craze but BELIEVE ME- it's so wonderful. I use this to take off my face makeup and another dose after I do so because there is actually so much nasty stuff on your skin- it will definitely surprise you. It's really gentle for my sensitivity and has a cooling element to it as well. And it's so cheap for such skin-friendly goodness. I need a little extra help taking off my eye makeup but then I go in with this right afterward and my skin thanks me. (not literally because that would be, uh, weird)

This ranges from 5-6$ at any drugstore

10. NYX Cosmetics Wonder Stick

NYX Cosmetics / Via

To finish this list up- another trend that has stormed the makeup universe- contouring!! I know mostly everyone wants the defined line that makes you want to take a million selfies- but contour makeup is sooo expensive. CRY NOT- your cheekbones will be lookin' fab with the contour color end of this two sided stick. I'm not a huge fan of the highlight side- it's a little cake-y on my skin but the contour end blends out beautifully with my beauty blender or Morphe G30 brush. And it's in a stick!! So you just draw it on and blend it out and WA-BAM- you've mastered yet another beauty craze. Comes in four shades!

This ranges from 11-12$ at CVS, Target, and Ulta
