Like every other suburban white male who turned 13 the year Pearl Jam released the ultimate "You had to be there" album, in Ten, I went through a brief phase when Eddie Vedder and the rest of the band, but mostly Eddie Vedder, had more sway in my life than anyone--parents, sisters, friends, even Kurt Cobain.
