Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" Is Breaking A Whole Bunch Of Records

Look what you made her do.

I know you know this already, but just in case you don't, Taylor Swift premiered the music video for her new single, "Look What You Made Me Do", at the VMAs on Sunday.

FYI, the video's director, Joseph Kahn, has explicitly denied any similarities to Beyoncé's work...

I've worked with Beyoncé a few times. She's an amazing person. The #LWYMMDvideo is not in her art space. Love and respect to Bey.

And the shots of Taylor reclining in a bathtub full of jewels – which some people said was a reference to Kim's robbery – seems to actually refer to something Taylor said in 2016.

"For the last couple of years the media has had a really wonderful fixation on painting me as this 'psycho serial dater girl'," she said. "Like, she jet-sets around the world, collecting men, and she can get any of them, but she's so clingy that they leave, and then she gets another one in her web, and she traps them, and locks them in her mansion, and then she's crying in her marble bathtub surrounded by pearls."

That specific shot also made reference to Taylor's recent sexual assault trial, during which she sued a radio DJ for $1 after he groped her at a meet and greet in 2013.

She sued for a single dollar to prove she wasn't doing it for the money, but rather "to serve as an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts".

The record was previously held by Adele, whose video for "Hello" racked up 27.7 million YouTube views in its first 24 hours – but Taylor overtook that record with hours to spare.

Adele had held the record for almost two years, which just proves how hard it is to break tbh.

And according to Forbes that's not the only record Taylor has broken in the last few days: The song's lyric video also smashed the record for most views in 24 hours.

That video racked up 19 million views, more than doubling the record set by Coldplay and the Chainsmokers earlier this year.

And if THAT wasn't enough, "Look What You Made Me Do" is breaking records over at Spotify too.

According to Music Business Worldwide, the song was streamed almost 8 million times in its first 24 hours, beating her BFF Ed Sheeran's record – his song "Shape of You" was streamed just under 7 million times in its first day.
