If you've been keeping up (lol), you'll know that the Christmas presentKim Kardashian West bought for her daughter North this year caused a little bit of controversy.
In an Instagram story on Christmas Day, Kim revealed that she and Kanye had gifted the 6-year-old the actual jacket Michael Jackson wore to Elizabeth Taylor's birthday party in 1997.
She later revealed that they'd also bought North the hat MJ wore in the video for "Smooth Criminal", which still has some of his make-up on it and reportedly cost over $56,000.
Many people took issue with the fact that Kim was just able to buy these items for North. They shared a screenshot from Paris Jackson's Instagram account, where she said she had been "begging the estate" for a pair of her dad's pyjamas.
While others said Kim shouldn't have modified the jacket.
But the situation escalated with a joke from Twitter user @internetpain, who edited an Instagram screenshot to make it look as though Kim had also bought North the shirt former US president John F. Kennedy was wearing when he was assassinated.
And ~then~ BuzzFeed writer Nina Mohan noticed that Refinery29 had used the screenshot in an article, reporting on it as though it was real.
It's safe to say people were pretty amused by the mishap, but there was one person who didn't find it funny: Kim Kardashian.
Kim hopped onto Twitter to let everyone know that the screenshot was "obviously fake", calling it a "sick joke" and reassuring her fans that she never posted the story.
And that was probably the most bizarre way we could possibly have ended the 2010s.
