You probably recognise supermodel Gigi Hadid from her countless ad campaigns and magazine covers. It’s pretty hard not to know who she is — her face is literally everywhere.
It’s safe to say Gigi isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She’s been open about her experience with body-shaming after she was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, and has clapped back at critics who said she’s only famous because of her parents’ success.
Well, today’s Gigi news comes in the form of a tweet to a fan who posted a photo of her cousins meeting the supermodel after a photoshoot.
A few hours later, Gigi herself appeared in the replies, calling the fan out for being “negative” and “mean” when she had agreed to take a photo with the girl’s cousins despite not looking her best.
“It bums me out that there’s people like you who function on an intelligence level that would look beyond the nice experience I had with your sweet fam & turn that into such a negative and mean train of thought,” she continued.
But the fan in question replied pointing out she didn’t actually say anything negative about Gigi in the first place.
While some people did show their support for Gigi, others rallied behind the fan, agreeing that she didn’t do anything wrong.
“She literally put no negativity in that,” one person wrote. “If that’s how you take it then that’s on you.”
It was also pointed out that Gigi hadn’t even been tagged in the tweet, meaning it wasn’t intended for her to see.
One person remarked that, while some people may have been saying negative things about the photos, the original poster didn’t, and because Gigi chose to reply to her specifically, the girl would most likely receive backlash from Gigi’s fans.
Others simply said Gigi shouldn’t be focusing on negative comments in the first place.
A representative for Gigi has been contacted for comment.
