18 Things That J.K. Rowling Still Hasn't Explained About "Harry Potter"

I got a whole lotta questions.

If you haven't been living under a rock for the past few decades, then you might have heard of a lil' ol' franchise called Harry Potter. Heck, you might even be a fan!

Harry Potter dazzled us with the dope-ass wizarding world that we all wanted — and still want — to be a part of.

But for as many fantasies that Harry Potter inspired, it also left us with a lot of questions that went answered.

Recently, Reddit user GreendayG11 asked the Potterheads of Reddit, "What just doesn't make sense about the Harry Potter universe?" These responses will have you scratching the ol' noggin.

Here are some of the most puzzling replies:

    1. Do they or do they not have dentists in the wizarding world?

    2. How is it that none of the kids — especially legacies like Malfoy and Ron — knew anything about the Sorting Hat?

    3. How is there a spell to grow bones back from nothing, but not a spell to fix Harry's eyesight?

    4. Why did they lock the third-floor corridor when the Alohomora spell exists?

    5. Why don't they listen to Muggle music, especially since so many students come from the Muggle world?

    6. How is the wizarding world so much more advanced than the Muggle world, yet they still use owls as a means to deliver mail?

    7. How is it that love potions are legal? (*cough cough* consent *cough cough*)

    8. Where do the pure-blood kids go to school before Hogwarts, since it only seems to be grades 6–12?

    9. How is it that Dumbledore stayed headmaster for so long when he made so many administrative blunders?

    10. Why did the students of Hogwarts use quills and ink when they lived in the late 20th century?

    11. If the students have access to Portkeys and the ability to teleport, why use any other means of transportation, i.e., flying cars or the Hogwarts Express?

    12. If it was against the rules, why couldn't Harry simply not participate in the Triwizard Tournament?

    13. If all the "bad wizards" came out of Slytherin, why didn't they attempt to change the culture of the Slytherin house?

    14. What is their justice system? How was Sirius wrongfully imprisoned, but Voldemort and the Death Eaters walked free?

    15. How do they not teach math, English, health, or foreign languages at Hogwarts?

    16. How is Rita Skeeter able to write the things she does, ESPECIALLY since it's usually about minors?

    17. How ~exactly~ does their economy work? Also, aside from working at Hogwarts, the Ministry of Magic, or being a Death Eater, what do wizards do for work, especially since they're so removed from the Muggle world?

    18. Finally, how is it possible that Hogwarts is considered one of the "safest places in the world," when we have seven books and eight movies that prove otherwise?
