Whoa, nelly. There's a lot of ignorance to sift through here, so I'm just going to jump right into it folks. Recently, Bhad Bhabie was under fire for "blackfishing" (darkening one's skin tone via self tanner or makeup) in an Instagram photo.
For reference, this is what she looks like in her other photos:
Now that you're caught up, we can get into today's ordeal. In an Instagram Live, Bhad Bhabie addressed her blackfishing allegation in, without a doubt, the worst way possible:
"Y'all say that I 'try to be black,'" Bhabie said in the video. "Because I...maybe [the] reason is because I grew up in the hood. Tarzan, right? The story of Tarzan—"
Now, in case you need a little refresher on the story of Tarzan, it's about a young man who is found in the jungle by a gorilla and then is RAISED BY THEM.
So, essentially, Bhad Bhabie compared her "acting black" because she grew up in "the hood" to Tarzan acting like a gorilla because he was raised by gorillas.
Racially insensitive notions aside, this is 100% the most ignorant thing I've heard in a while, and with the year we've had so far, that's saying A LOT.
People on the internet are up in arms about Bhad Bhabie's lil' speech:
And then, as if matters couldn't get ANY WORSE, later in the video, she dug her hole even DEEPER by insulting the very race she was criticized of appropriating:
"Who wants to be black? I don't understand that! I just can't comprehend it."
