What Do Homeless People Do?

To many of us, our only interactions with homeless people are when they ask us for spare change. Sometimes we give and sometimes we straight up ignore them. We forget that the homeless people are not machines who are programmed to ask for change the minute they see someone non-homeless. Though many fall victim to homelessness as a result of being mentally ill, homeless people are not all crazy, if at all. The truth is that there are people sleeping on the streets who have hope, dreams, intellect, talents, and attitudes of compassion and selflessness. The following videos are meant to show that homeless people are not different than any other class of people. If you were to become homeless tomorrow, would you become rewired to lie, ask for money, and use it to by booze?

Many of your friends from high school may or may not have gone to college, but you love them anyway. Boone obviously didn't spend all his time asking strangers for change, instead he invested his time into studying.

"Hahaha I see you smile. Smile is a good thing. That is what it is for." Making people laugh is the joy in this homeless man's life. He can make his mustache move in cool, funny patterns. It is the simple things in life - like dancing.

"There is a phone down the corner. Here is 50 cents." After getting harshly rejected by two teens on their phone, the subject in this video found help from a homeless musician. The homeless man was working, but that didn't stop him from helping the lost man.

"You are the first guy to return our wallet, and we want to give you $1000." Honesty is the best policy. We may often lie to homeless people to avoid giving them money. We may say "Sorry I don't have any money," after withdrawing cash from the ATM. The man in this video shows us that although he probably needs the money more than the person who dropped his wallet, he values his honesty above money.

They become extremely offended when offered money by the homeless man. Only watching this video can really explain how ugly the reactions are. Homeless people are just like us, they sing, they dance, they tell jokes, and they feel.
