Sump pump installation may seem like a daunting task, but in reality, if one gets down to installing it, it can actually be easy. You can hire a professional to install the sump pump in your basement, but if you like doing things your way, then it’s a job that you can carry out all by yourself.
If you are an enterprising individual and are looking to install the sump pump yourself, then here are some quick and easy steps you can follow to get the job done.
First find the location from where the water is seeping into the basement. Now, if the GFCI (Ground Fault Interrupter) outlet isn’t near the spot, then get an electrician to install one.
After finding the location and having a power outlet in place, dig hole about 6 odd inches deeper and 10 odd inches wider than the sump. Fill the dug up area with gravel in the bottom and place the sump in the hole. Next, fill the hole with more gravel until only about two inches of the sump is visible.
Now, add the sump adaptor to the PVC pipe.
Add pumps’ electrical cord to the discharge pipe and place the pump into the sump.
Now, use the discharge pipe, that are made to run outside the house by making hole in the wall to channel water sucked out from the pump away from the house.
Seal up the wall, and cover the pump. You are now ready to dry up your basement.
