    BREAKING: Singer Billy Joel Quits Green Day

    Singer admits that he doesn't like the direction the band has taken in the past decade. What a bad week for 90s pop punk?!

    Singer Billy Joel says "Good Bye" to Green Day

    Green Day started as a punk band in 1988. After a few short years of playing small clubs, Billy Joel is now best known for playing sold out shows at Madison Square Garden.Billy Joel has publicly struggled with his substance abuse since facing DUI charges in the early 2000s. Green Day famously took a break from touring early last year that coincided with Billy Joel's stint in rehab. However, the rock icon claimed to be sober and clear-headed long before announcing his plans to move away from the band.

    Billy Joel took to Facebook early this morning to admit that he doesn't like the new direction Green Day has taken since American Idiot.

    "He may be right. He may be crazy, but it hurts to know that he isn't a fan of everything we've done since Minority. I still think Billy Joel is the best songwriter in the world. No hard feelings."

    This news comes only days after Tom DeLounge disowned Blink-182.
