6 Reasons Why Reindeers Are Better Than People

In Disney's Frozen, there is a song that says that reindeers are better than people - here's why that's true. (And yes, the plural of reindeer is reindeer, but the song title is "Reindeers are better than people" from the movie).

1. Reindeer can warm air as they breathe it in, allowing them to survive in much colder temperatures, thanks to increased surface area in their nose.

2. Some reindeer actually DO have red noses, but not because their names are Rudolph or that they are drunk, but thanks to a large number of blood vessels there.

3. Reindeer can run over 50 miles per hour, while humans can run just over 20.

4. Both male and female reindeer have antlers!

5. When antlers grow, they are covered in "velvet," which has a lot of blood vessels, and supplies the growing antler with oxygen and other nutrients.

6. Reindeer hooves adapt depending on the season - they are soft in the summer for extra traction, and firm in the winter (to prevent slipping)
