My personal favourite! Salty, warm and soft. A common street snack in Germany, a tourist favourite in restaurants such as Hofbrau. Pretzels the size of 30cm rulers can be bought from workers in the aforementioned restaurants, selling for a mere 4 Euro.

Arguably the most feared German food for tourists, this delicacy exudes a potent odor, but the taste is a whole lot better than the smell. Several variants of sauerkraut are available, such as red cabbage, which is agreed to be more palatable. Often served with a winding German sausage for a hearty Abendessen!
