Common questions/misconceptions about Disneyland face characters.

1. They can't be on set for more than one hour

Face characters cannot perform on set for longer then an hour, while fuzzy characters cannot be on stage for more then 30 minutes.

2. They do their own makeup

While Disney has a Hair and Makeup Department, the face characters are taught how to apply their makeup during training and do it themselves at the start of each shift.

3. They have to condition before each shift

Face characters (as well as fuzzy characters) have to condition/stretch for about ten minutes before going on set. This is so they are warmed up before performing and also for injury prevention.

4. They can't hold babies

It is strictly forbidden for ANY character to hold babies while on set. What if the character dropped a poor newborn baby? So when a character declines to hold your little baby, it isn't because they hate children, it's because it's against the rules.

5. They can't sign certain things

Speaking of rules, there are many things that characters can't autograph. Some of them include body parts, receipts, Disneyland tickets, and anything of great value (such as cellphones and cameras).

6. It is common for performers to play more than one role

While a face character will get hired to portray one specific character, they might be given another role (or roles) later on. For example, a girl might play Belle and Aurora or Jasmine and Pocahontas.
