    Attitude, Attitude, Atitude

This article talks about the importance of having a positive attitude for people with disabilities. How important it is to keep positive.

    Attitude! Attitude! Attitude!

For those of us with physical disabilities, getting around every day, performing daily tasks etc. can be a major challenge. For me, it's about my attitude. My attitude dictates how my day

goes. The one good thing about

attitude is that you get to choose it!

Regardless of your physical disability, regardless of the level of pain that you have every day (all day), regardless of your limitations, regardless,

    regardless, regardless, you get to

choose your attitude for the day.

When you wake up in the morning, prior to putting your feet on the floor, you decide whether you are going to have an up day or a down day. Most of us however

are not aware of that decision. Simply, we wake up and move on.

What I want to briefly talk about here is the choice that we have to have a positive attitude and how having a positive attitude will help us get through

    the day.

I believe that the best way of dealing with the pain and frustrations of a physical disability is to first admit to ourselves that we have a disability.

That's right, wake up in the morning and

declare to yourself that you have a disability. This sounds stupid I know but what it does is give you a daily

reminder that you have limitations and that for the most part, you will be in pain. I know you are thinking that you don't have to be reminded of it, it

is always there as it changed your life.

Why should I remind myself that I have limitations and I am in constant pain? The answer is so that you can accept it. I know! How can I accept limitations,

pain and frustration? The answer and only answer in my opinion is because you have to. Accepting who you are is a basic premise to happiness. Accepting that

you are a person with a physical disability and that you have limitations and constant pain is the only way to find some happiness. Attitude! Attitude! Attitude!

So when you wake up in the morning, choose a positive attitude. Dismiss the negative attitude. Dismiss feeling sad because you have limitations or pain.

    Choose happiness!

Affirmative behavior is a great way to do this. You have to make a conscious effort throughout the day affirming to yourself that you have a disability and

you are in pain but life is still good!

There are still things for me to smile about! There are still moments that I can cherish.

    Embrace life!
