    Awkward Moments For Feminists

The big annoying moments are well known but what are those little pet peeves that happen every day?

People asking when feminism became important to you?

People telling you to not get so upset when they make a misogynistic comment:

When you know you should just shut up and take the compliment:

    ... but you can't....

Being told you look good 'for a feminist'?

And feeling bad for getting mad so you try and explain:

Explaining your issues with female standards of beauty in general:

The empowerment of owning your own sexuality

But then buying into societies rules again and feeling bad:

At least for a little while until you realize it's bullshit!

Being interrupted with a dismissive comment while discussing the ramifications of gender bias:

And trying not to totally lose it!

Trying to find things that pass the Bechdel Test!

Explaining what the Bechdel test is an what an incredibly low bar it is to step over...

Being told you’re acting unladylike and pointing out that our gender shouldn’t have an effect on our behavior or others expectations of us:

When people point out that men gave women the vote and you point out that no one section of society should have the right to decide who can and can’t vote

People telling you to take a break from 'feminism':

People expecting you to be like this:

    Or this:

People saying feminism is somehow bad for men:

When you find yourself inadvertently perpetuating a gender bias:

    Having your explanation on point:

I believe in a egalitarian society where men and women are equal. But we need to feminism to get there because of the current inequality that see's women as inferior and thus demotes anything associated with feminism and creates gender stereotypes and bias that serves no one within the society.
