If You’re As Obsessed With Y2K Fashion As I Am, Here Are Some Trends To Re-Create

Plus, some inspo for how to style it in 2022!

As someone who's always had a (slightly obsessive) love for the noughties era, I lost pretty much all composure when the early '00s style started making a comeback.

Whether you're looking for a way to express your inner Aaliyah or Regina George, here are some trends that have made their way back, as well as some key pieces that you might want to bring out from the depths of your wardrobe.

    1. Let's kick it off with a classic — the baguette shoulder bag.

    2. Next up, sunnies. You know the style I'm talking about — those frameless rectangular ones that come in pretty much any colour you could want.

    3. A personal favourite: hoop earrings. Huge ones. I'm talking the gold, chunky, bamboo style.

    4. In honour of quite a few classic looks, anything fluffy. Fluffy heels, fluffy coats, fluffy hair bobbles — fluffy anything.

    5. Two words for you: oversize jackets. Not only are they an easy thing to just throw on, but they also go with practically any kind of outfit.

    6. If you've still got your hair crimper from back in the day, this is your sign to wipe off the dust and bring that bad boy out, because crimped hair is officially back in style.

    7. The brown lip liner and clear gloss combo is an old-school trend that I most definitely could not live without — I swear I'm not exaggerating.

    8. I know you thought it would never happen, but velour tracksuits have officially made a comeback — and I'm so here for it.

    9. Anything baggy can pass as part of the '00s aesthetic, so whether you're thinking of trying out an oversize T-shirt dress or a pair of oversize cargos, you're defo on trend.

    10. Whether the thought of this makes you cringe or not, I'm here to tell you that double denim is most definitely a thing again.

    11. It just got 10 times easier to disguise those bad hair days, now that bandanas are back.

    12. If you're looking to add a little something to your seemingly finished look, belly chains are a simple accessory that can totally transform an outfit — and instantly take you back a couple of decades while you're at it.

    13. Shimmery eyeshadows were a huge part of the '00s look back in the day, and a huge part of their comeback, too, for that matter.
