2. And you can't afford to live where you thought you will live.

Zone 1? Ha, try Zone 11.

3. But you find that one place that's just perfect

You can really find a place that's both good and cheap

4. Except that when you phone up, it's already been gone for months

Agents lie. They lie.

5. And then you find another great place (and it is available)

Could it be real? Maybe it really is real!

6. Except it's not what you thought. At all.

So it's right next to an industrial zone. Or in a neighbourhood where your mum will think you could get stabbed.

7. And then you find a real, good one, in a real, good area.

You think it's incredible, and put down an offer.

8. But you just weren't fast enough - someone else made the successful offer.

There's always a mystery person who gets the place, even though you put down your offer 5 minutes after you saw it.

9. After countless viewings and listings, you are just about to accept anything.

You thought you were going to get something in a week. You still haven't after a month.

10. Until you find something just fine, just waiting for you, and you get it.

You'd never know if your previous month of searching was for anything.

11. After living there for a year, you notice the landlord is a bit of a jerk, and the water boiler never really worked.

Seriously? You really are never going to fix that cracked window pane?

12. So you do all this. All over again.
